It was such an Olympic Spirit that has encouraged a generation of Chinese students who hold a lifetime belief in never giving up our endeavor for a higher goal, a stronger self, and a better world.聽Many years later, when I watched the video of the 1984 Olympics women volleyball final, when I read th stanley cup e article written by the Chinese Team leading player Lang Ping in remembering her best friend Flo Hyman, the American Team leading player, I gave some more thoughts on the value of the Olympic Competition. I like what former President Obama has come up with regarding the value of the Olympic Competition, that is, Friendship, Respect, and Excellence. The team, comprised of two eight under girls, and eight 10 under boys posted some impressive best times and great relay swims.Leading the team was Ming-Yuan Lo, 9, who won the 100 meter freestyle, and placed second in 50 and 100 meter butterfly and 50 meter freestyle. He capped off a stellar meet with a third in the 200 meter Individual Medley and fifth in the 200 freestyle. He earned the third place high-point award for boys.Also noteworthy were performances from Andy Corliss, 10, who was second in both the 50 and 100 meter breaststrokes. He placed in the top eight in his other four individual events.The Aquatomics fielded two boys relay teams in the 10 under age group, with the A relay, comprised of Lo, Corliss, Matias Rougier and Ryan Aldaz placing second in both the 200 meter freestyle relay and the 200 meter medley relay. The B relay, comprised of Phillip Ionkov, Connor Tepley, Sam Katko and Nikolai Nelson placed eighth in the 200 free relay and sixth in the 200 medley relay.The eight under session was swum in a 25-yard course Saturday morning.
